Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) in order to supply, extend, and launch a 16km main water distribution network between Jebel Ali and Al Quoz, has awarded a Dh108 million contract.
The project assists Dewa’s planning to satisfy the electricity and water needs for the sustainable development of Dubai in order to attain Dubai’s strategic plan.
According to Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dewa – Dewa is concentrated on additionally improving the efficiency and capacity of the infrastructure to produce, transmit and distribute electricity and water to protect the growing customers requirements, developers, and other business sectors, to assist improve the viable development of Dubai.
The project covers extending the 1,200 mm Glass Reinforced Epoxy (GRE) water transmission pipeline by a additional 16km: from Jebel Ali, through Al Khail Road, to the main pumping station in Al Quoz. It also covers a remote control and monitoring system to improve transmission capacity between Jebel Ali and the main pumping stations in Al Quoz. The project also covers linking the main transmission lines in numerous regions to improve water flow, assure constant supply, and increase pressure to fulfill growing demand in those areas as per the approved plans, added Al Tayer.
Al Tayer reported that the project will be done within 24 months.
