SupAnchor and Its Engineering Clients in the Hard-hit Areas

Category : Happy broadcast

On May 12th, 2008, an earthquake which measured 8.0 magnitude occurred, and the rank of intensity reached 11. Not only did China experience the terrible effect of it, but many Asia countries felt it as well. After the earthquake, SupAnchor sent 3 engineers to hurry to the Zipingpu Reservoir Slope Project and Longchi Tunnelling Project, providing on-site help and services. The two sites widely used products produced bySupAnchor, such as self-drilling anchor bolts, anchor bits, couplers. We felt sorry about their tragedy, meanwhile we felt very proud that the application functioned well in both sits, reliable enough to withstand this huge test.
During the following month, SupAnchor applied anchor bolts and accessaries to these spots for the need of the roads, tunnels and other emergency constructions.

Test train runs through Delft tunnel

Category : Happy broadcast

NETHERLANDS: Infrastructure manager ProRail ran the first test train through a 2·3 km tunnel beneath Delft on November 1, ahead of its planned opening for passenger services in spring 2015.
The tunnel and a new station with 340 m long platforms 8 m underground will replace the existing railway viaduct which currently forms a barrier through the city. Putting the line underground will reduce noise and release around 30 ha of land for property developments including offices and 1 000 homes which are being used to part-fund the project.
There will initially be two tracks through the tunnel, but there is provision for a further pair to be installed later which would provide an increase in capacity with wider benefits across the national network.
The CrommeLijn consortium of CFE, Mobilis and Dura Vermeer began construction of the tunnel in 2008. Strukton Rail installed the track, signalling and electrification, while BAM Utiliteitsbouw built the station which was designed by Benthem Crouwel architects and is being fitted out by Worksphere.
The Ministry of Infrastructure & the Environment has contributed €330m to the €1bn cost of the project, with the rest of the funding coming from various tiers of government.

Bukit Bintang MRT tunnels completed

Category : Happy broadcast

KUALA LUMPUR: Construction of the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) tunnels beneath Jalan Bukit Bintang was completed today.
Project director Marcus Karakashian said the two special tunnel boring machines (TBM) from Germany had helped them to handle the challenging geology of the area.
“Due to the difficult soil condition in the area, a variable density TBM was specially designed to deal with problems in the digging,” he said. The machine, which is the first of its kind, started to dig from the Cochcrane MRT site in May last year.
As of today, the tunnelling works was 88% complete and has covered the most difficult area, which is near Bukit Bintang.
Expressing satisfaction over completion of the tunnelling works in the busiest and most difficult areas in Bukit Bintang with minimal incidence, he said the most difficult challenges when digging in the area were the different types of soil and having to cut ground anchors.
The soil beneath the Bukit Bintang area encompasses formations which made it difficult for tunnelling works and balancing the soil structure. Two sinkholes had occurred due to the tunnelling process earlier this year. The overall progress of the underground project is at about 70%, and the MRT project is expected to be completed on July 31, 2017.
